Business Process Re-engineering

Business Process Re-engineering, don't be afraid to look forward and dream

Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) has many names business transformation, business process redesign the list is endless. It is common to find BPR in the capability matrix of technology service companies, because as the instigators of change it is quite common that lifecyles of change have similar artefacts, a vision, a team, a design, a development approach, an implementation of change, after care and maintainance.

However what is a common misconception is that BPR means more technology, BPR is a hollistic approach which asks how can an objective be achieved in the most efficient way and with the best results. BPR is commonly applied to exisitng process's where over time strange nuances occur and because of industrial inertia become dogma and exist long after their need.

At KM Professionals we refer to BPR as the applied science of "Why" and "what if", essentially breaking end to end process's into their constituent parts and score carding why each process exists and what if it changed, merged, evolved or ceased.
